The Makerspace Textiles room allows makers to make costumes, apparel, curtains, pillows, and much more. Our ounline safety and basic use courses will help you learn the basics prior to use of the equipment. If you are needing further help, our staff would be happy to help you figure out the best way to complete your project!
Sewing
Learning how to sew is an essential skill-set in completing any project and easier to do than you think! Come in and get started on our sewing machines to help you take the first step! The Canvas course which teaches safety and basic use should be completed prior to coming in to use our sewing machines.
Embroidery
Our 10 needle embroidery machine makes personalizing your items a breeze! You can personalize clothing/hats, create patches, add decorative elements to fabric, and much more. Stop by and check it out! We have an online safety and basic use training available for this (required prior to use). The machine also has tutorial videos built in to help guide you if you need further assistance. Our staff is also on hand for any assisstance you may need.
Using Our shop
Access and Safety
There is a Sewing and Embroidery Safety and Basic Use Courses available for completion prior to coming in to use the equipment in our Textiles room. Once you have completed these, access will be given to use the machines.
Purchasing Materials
Bobbins can be purchased for $2.00 each. This will include any colored thread use. We offer backing material for use as well. Our store has some items available for embroidery such as tote bags and pencil pouches. Feel free to bring in your own shirts, sweaters, hats or other items for use with the equipment.
We unfortunately do not have material on hand for sewing projects. If you are looking to create your own clothing,etc. we recommend purchasing your own fabric prior to coming to the space.
